Bruce Poole took the site on Bellevue Road in 1995, when it had been Marco Pierre White's Harveys, and has cooked there ever since. The food is French and Mediterranean, generous and unbothered about being clever, and the cellar runs a great deal deeper than the room implies. It is the argument that a local restaurant can be a serious one.
