The tiled front is a landmark on Hackney Road and the bar behind it is still a bar, panelled and unreconstructed, with a dining room above it and a terrace on the roof. The people who own it came out of St John, which shows in how little the kitchen does to good produce: dressed Dorset crab, and a Sunday roast worth planning around.
