A temple of hand-carved Indian limestone on Ealing Road, fourteen years in the building, without a bar of steel in it, opened in 2010 and open to anyone.

The charity Shri Vallabh Nidhi UK began it in 1996 and opened it in the summer of 2010, built to the rules of the Shilpa Shastras, the Hindu texts on sacred architecture, which allow copper, silver and gold in a temple but no iron or steel: every stone is load-bearing, yellow Jaisalmer limestone outside and pink Bansi Paharpur inside, all from Rajasthan, carved by hand in the town of Sola in Gujarat, shipped to Wembley and fitted together. It is 182 feet by 115 and 66 feet high, on two hundred and ten pillars, with two domes and three spires, and holds forty-one deities in eleven shrines and twenty-nine smaller sanctums, with Mother Teresa and Guru Nanak among the figures carved on its walls. Shoes come off at the door. Outside, Ealing Road is the sari shops, sweet shops and grocers of one of the largest Gujarati communities in Britain.
