Juan Famenias Floris came from Menorca and opened as a barber and comb-maker; the perfume followed. The shop has never moved, and the Spanish mahogany cabinets in it were bought second-hand from the Great Exhibition of 1851.

It holds royal warrants and keeps a small museum of its ledgers at the back - Florence Nightingale's order for a bouquet of flowers is in one of them.
