Walking
David has been a Londoner all his life and walks the south bank the way somebody does who has had reason to know it closely: along the river first, then off into the lanes behind Borough, past the market, the cathedral, the old prison and a dig most people walk over without noticing.
What separates it from the other walks over this ground is that the inequality is not a footnote. Southwark has been where London put what it did not want to look at for four hundred years, and David talks about the modern version of that from the inside rather than as social history.
Unseen Tours is run as a social enterprise: the guides have all experienced homelessness, they are paid for the walk, and most of the ticket goes to them.
