Solemn Latin Mass with the Oratory choir

Renaissance polyphony sung every Sunday at eleven by a professional choir, and you walk in.

ClassicalFree

At Brompton Oratory.

The Choir of the London Oratory is the senior professional Catholic church choir in the country, and it sings the eleven o'clock Solemn Latin Mass every Sunday: Gregorian chant, sixteenth and seventeenth-century polyphony, and the orchestral Mass settings of Haydn, Mozart and their successors, in the way they were written to be heard - as part of the liturgy rather than a concert. Solemn Latin Vespers follows at 15:30 with the same choir.

It is a service, not a performance, and nobody sells a ticket or applauds; you sit at the back if you are there for the music. The Saturday six o'clock Mass is sung by the Schola Cantorum of the London Oratory School, one of the best boys' choirs in Britain.
