A publisher put up three dance halls in west London in 1904, one for each of his daughters. Bush Hall is the survivor. It fed people as a soup kitchen during the Second World War, was a bingo hall and a rehearsal room around 1960 and a snooker and social club through the 1980s and 90s, and has been a music venue again since 2001.
It is one of the smallest rooms in London with a ceiling worth looking at — plaster mouldings and chandeliers over a floor that holds a few hundred — and it is independent, which at this size in west London is now unusual. Bands use it for the shows they want to sound close.
