Performance venues

London's stages and concert rooms: the West End houses and the playhouses that make their own shows, the grand halls, the churches with a musical life, the jazz basements, the comedy clubs, the clubs proper, and the rooms above pubs where things start. What is on is listed under each venue, and in What's On.

Milton Court Concert Hall

The Guildhall School's own hall, where the players are conservatoire students and the seats cost a few pounds.

Classical

It opened in 2013, a few minutes from the Barbican along the highwalk, and it is where the Guildhall School of Music and Drama puts on its orchestral and chamber concerts. The room is a proper 608-seat hall rather than a rehearsal space with chairs in it, and the standard is close enough to professional that visiting orchestras and record labels use it too.

What it is really for is hearing players before anyone has heard of them, at a price that makes an experiment cheap.
