London's stages and concert rooms: the West End houses and the playhouses that make their own shows, the grand halls, the churches with a musical life, the jazz basements, the comedy clubs, the clubs proper, and the rooms above pubs where things start. What is on is listed under each venue, and in What's On.

XOYO opened on Cowper Street in 2010 with a ground-floor live room and a basement, and made its name on the residency: one artist takes a night for a whole season, three months at a time, and books the guests themselves. It has run for Bonobo, the Blessed Madonna, Peggy Gou and others, and the format has been copied widely since.
