The second largest conservatory in London, put up over the theatre's fly tower and filled with two thousand species - figs, palms, cacti and a pond of koi and terrapins - all of it under glass in the middle of the Barbican's raw concrete. Admission is free but ticketed, and it only opens on selected dates: tickets go out a month ahead, with a few more released at 09:30 on each open day.
