PlayhousesWorth it for the building
W. G. R. Sprague built it in 1898 and it spent most of the twentieth century as a cinema. The Print Room company took it over and reopened it in 2018 without restoring it: the plaster is stripped, the paint is patchy, the auditorium is candlelit for some shows, and the effect is closer to a European art house than a West End theatre. The programme leans towards international work, translation and music.
