Anansi & the Lost Sun

The spider who talks his way into everything, sent to fetch the sun back, with West African drumming.

Folk & worldFamily friendlyAges 3–7

At The Puppet Theatre Barge.

Darkness has covered the land and the lion needs somebody to go and find the sun; the eagle and the monkey both fancy their chances, and so does Anansi. Swallow's Wings Puppetry, a London company who have worked with Tate Britain, the V&A and Somerset House, tell it in puppetry, spoken word and traditional West African music. The Anansi stories travelled from West Africa to the Caribbean with enslaved people and then to Britain with the Windrush generation, which is how they came to be told on a barge in Maida Vale. Fifty minutes.
