Downstairs is a corner brasserie with a zinc bar; upstairs is a red room with a piano, a small stage and about eighty seats, and it runs music nearly every night. The New Orleans jam session is the one people travel for - anyone can bring an instrument and sit in - and the rest is quartets, singers and the occasional big band squeezed in. Nearly thirty nights a month, which is more than most rooms twice its size.
