Historic interior
Rebuilt in 1933 by Hoare & Co's brewery to a design by Sydney C. Clark, who did a great many pubs between the wars, in the half-timbered manner the trade called Brewers' Tudor. "Old" is part of the name rather than a description of the building.
What has survived here is the plan as well as the fittings, which is the rarer half. Two bars are split by a dividing wall with a single central servery working both, and a low, narrow doorway at either end to get from one to the other. Heavy timbering on the walls and ceiling, the original counter, glazed panels, fireplace surrounds, brick pillars, the original light fittings, and emblems set over the doorways.
Cider on handpump as well as beer, some of it real and some not, and a large garden.
