Performance venues

London's stages and concert rooms: the West End houses and the playhouses that make their own shows, the grand halls, the churches with a musical life, the jazz basements, the comedy clubs, the clubs proper, and the rooms above pubs where things start. What is on is listed under each venue, and in What's On.

What is on at them this week is in What's On: Performance

Up the Creek

Malcolm Hardee's club, where the audience heckling is part of the show.

Fringe & pubsComedy club

Malcolm Hardee opened it in Greenwich in 1991 and ran it in his own manner — chaotic, obscene, and genuinely dangerous for anyone on stage who could not hold a room. He drowned in 2005; the club kept going and kept the reputation. Saturday nights still end with a late show.
