The Household Division parades on Horse Guards, a colour is carried down the ranks, and the whole thing moves to Buckingham Palace for the balcony and a flypast. It has been done in some form since the seventeenth century and the drill is genuinely extraordinary to watch.
Seats on Horse Guards are balloted months ahead. The Mall is free and fills early, and you see the procession rather than the parade. The 2027 date is expected to be Saturday 12 June — the Household Division confirms it in the spring.
