Terraces
The old road from the abbey to the river, and the rare London street that was neither bombed flat nor rebuilt: colour-washed shopfronts, Georgian houses with their railings intact, and warehouses from the leather trade that ran here for three centuries. St Mary Magdalen stands halfway down behind a battlemented Gothick front of 1830 on a church rebuilt in the 1680s. White Cube took one of the warehouses at the Long Lane end, and the Fashion and Textile Museum is impossible to miss: Ricardo Legorreta painted it orange and hot pink.
