Lynne Ramsay's second film, shown for the launch of a book about it.
Books & writers
A young woman in a Scottish port town finds her boyfriend dead on the kitchen floor at Christmas, puts his unpublished novel out under her own name, and goes to Spain. Ramsay tells almost all of it without explanation, through what Samantha Morton does with her face and what is on the soundtrack, which Morvern's dead boyfriend made for her.
Anwen Crawford's study of the film is published by Fireflies Press, and this screening launches it: grief, class, and who gets to be called an author.
