Two hours of the best of two decades of opera broadcast live from New York, introduced by Renee Fleming.
At Phoenix Cinema.
The Metropolitan Opera started sending live performances to cinemas in 2006, which changed what it cost to see opera sung by the people who are best at it: a seat at the Met is a plane ticket away, and a seat at a cinema is not. More than a hundred and eighty performances have gone out since.
This is the anniversary programme, assembled from them and hosted by the soprano Renee Fleming, with Jonas Kaufmann, Joyce DiDonato, Elina Garanca, Juan Diego Florez and Dmitri Hvorostovsky among the singers in it.
