Hatton Garden

London's jewellery quarter for four hundred years, with the workshops still upstairs above the shops.

Jewellery & antiquesA street or arcade

Also in Shopping.

The trade has been here since the seventeenth century and the street still holds around three hundred jewellery businesses, most of Britain's diamond dealing, and - the part that matters - the workshops. Setters, polishers, engravers and mounters work in the upper floors of these buildings.

It is the place to have a ring made or altered rather than merely bought, and the density means you can get three opinions in an afternoon.
