Gresham founded the exchange in 1571 as a place for merchants to meet; this is the third building, opened by Victoria in 1844 after the first two burned. Trading left long ago and the courtyard is now a covered arcade of jewellers, watchmakers and a bar.
What is worth coming for is the building - the portico, the courtyard and the painted panels round the upper gallery telling London's commercial history.
