The firm was set up in 1875 as a partnership between Mrs Walker and Madame Charbonnel, whom the Prince of Wales - later Edward VII - encouraged to come over from Paris. It has been in the Royal Arcade almost ever since, and the arcade itself, built in 1879 with a glass roof and cream stucco shopfronts, is half the reason to go.
The pink champagne truffles in the round boxes are the thing it is known for; the rose and violet creams and the sea-salt caramels are the other two.
