Desserts & Gelato

The sweet course as a destination: gelato and ice cream, cakes and patisserie, chocolate, and the dessert bars where pudding is the whole point. Bread and the morning are next door, in Bakeries.

Le Choux

A shop given over almost entirely to choux pastry, at the top of Ladbroke Grove.

Cakes & patisserie

Choux is the awkward one - a paste cooked on the hob, dried out, then loaded with enough egg to make it rise on steam alone - and this is a whole shop built on it: buns, éclairs, profiteroles, and croquembouche-style towers made to order. The rest of the counter is patisserie proper, with tarts, brioche, cookies and a few chocolates, but the name is the menu.

Closed on Mondays. It is at the top end of Ladbroke Grove, well north of the Portobello crowds.
