The sweet course as a destination: gelato and ice cream, cakes and patisserie, chocolate, and the dessert bars where pudding is the whole point. Bread and the morning are next door, in Bakeries.
Mille-crêpe cakes - twenty layers of paper-thin crêpe and pastry cream - in the Brunswick Centre.
Cakes & patisserie
The house cake is the mille crêpe, and it is not baked at all: about twenty crêpes made paper-thin, each one brushed with French pastry cream, stacked and chilled until the whole thing sets firm enough to cut in wedges. The name is borrowed from mille-feuille, a thousand leaves.
Celebration cakes are made to order in the same manner, among them the Constellation and a strawberry basket, in two sizes. The shop is in the Brunswick Centre, Patrick Hodgkinson's stepped concrete terrace behind Russell Square station.
The shop does not publish its opening hours.
