Farmers' Markets

Where the person behind the stall grew it. London's farmers' markets, most of them one morning a week: raw milk and day-boat fish, biodynamic vegetables and rare-breed meat, and two midweek markets that are really about lunch.

Blackheath Farmers' Market

A station car park that turns into the best market in Lewisham on a Sunday morning.

SundayRaw milkDay-boat fish

What sets Blackheath apart is how well the regulars know the farmers - first-name terms, by the market's own account, and the sort of thing that only happens when the same people come every week for years. Weekly milk, brown shrimps caught off Norfolk, local honey, Kentish asparagus in spring and cherries in July.

Voted best market in Lewisham at the 2025 Mayor's business awards, and filmed for The Farmers Country Showdown on BBC One. It runs whatever the weather, in a car park beside the station.
