Where the person behind the stall grew it. London's farmers' markets, most of them one morning a week: raw milk and day-boat fish, biodynamic vegetables and rare-breed meat, and two midweek markets that are really about lunch.

The draw here is the dairy: E.S. Burroughs bring raw milk and cheese, which is not something a supermarket can sell you. Around it, biodynamic and organic vegetables from Brambletye and Wild Country Organics, free-range poultry and beef from Laycroft, organic meats from Pick's, game in season, juice, fruit and home-made cakes.
It has run since September 2011 and the site is a school playground, so there is space to sit with a coffee rather than shuffle past stalls. Some stallholders take cards; bring a bag.
