Harry Potter

The platform, the alley, the bank and the bridge: where the books are set and the films were shot, the studio where the sets still stand, and the day trips to Hogwarts' lake and the Quidditch woods.

Charing Cross Road

The Leaky Cauldron of the books is on Charing Cross Road, between a bookshop and a record shop.

Also in Shopping.

In Philosopher's Stone Hagrid leads Harry to 'a tiny, grubby-looking pub' on Charing Cross Road that Muggles cannot see, and through its back yard into Diagon Alley; the books never say which stretch, and the films put its door elsewhere. The road was London's street of bookshops through the twentieth century, so a wizarding shopping street hidden off it is a good joke. Visitors most often settle on Cecil Court, the alley of dealers running off it, as the model for the Alley, though Rowling has never said so.
