Leavesden was a Rolls-Royce aircraft works before it was a film studio, and the sets built there over ten years were kept rather than struck: the Great Hall with its stone flags and long tables, Dumbledore's office, the Gryffindor common room, Privet Drive, the Hogwarts Express on Platform 9¾, the Forbidden Forest and the full Diagon Alley street, ending in the one-in-twenty-four model of Hogwarts under changing light that the exteriors were filmed on.
