The first scene of magic in the first film, Harry finding he can speak to a python on his cousin's birthday outing, was shot in the Zoo's Reptile House of 1927, and the enclosure has a plaque. The snake in the book is a boa constrictor; the film's is a Burmese python, and the tank's actual resident at the time was a black mamba. The Zoo opened in 1828 and is the oldest scientific zoo in the world.
