In Design Museum.
The Design Museum's free display, on the top floor under the swooping roof of the old Commonwealth Institute. Nearly a thousand objects from the twentieth and twenty-first centuries are set out three ways — as the designer intended them, as the factory actually made them, and as people in the end used them — which turns out to be the useful way round, because the three rarely agree. Everything is in it: architecture and engineering, chairs and kettles, road signs, graphics, fashion, software. One wall is crowdsourced, filled with objects visitors nominated as the designs that matter to them. There is a trail for younger visitors, and no need to book.
