An Evening of Unnecessary Detail at the Royal Institution

Science comedy in the lecture theatre where Faraday gave the Christmas Lectures.

Science & nature

At Faraday Museum.

Festival of the Spoken Nerd is the science comedy show built by stand-up mathematician Matt Parker, experiments maestro Steve Mould and songwriter Helen Arney, who have been putting live demonstrations, songs and maths in front of theatre audiences since 2010. Steve Mould and Helen Arney host this one in the Ri's steeply raked theatre, with Fran Scott, Subhadra Das, Sophie Maclean and the Ri's own demonstration expert Dan Plane. The room is the point as much as the bill: it is the theatre Faraday lectured in, built so that everyone can see the bench. Tickets are sold for the hall and for a livestream that stays watchable for two weeks afterwards, and the show is pitched at 13 and over.
