Winston Churchill: The Painter

Fifty Churchill canvases, half from private hands, in the first retrospective since his death.

HistoryArt & design

At Wallace Collection.

Churchill painted for joy and relief from politics for half a century, and this is the first major show of it since he died: over fifty works, more than half rarely seen, from wartime scenes and Mediterranean light to Marrakech and the ponds at Chartwell. Some went to the Royal Academy or abroad as diplomatic gifts; most stayed at home. Gary Oldman voices the audio guide. Ticketed; Members free.
