The Retro Bar is at the top of a flight of steps in George Court, an alley running between the Strand and Chandos Place, and is easy to walk past twice. It is the alternative one - indie, goth and eighties on the jukebox, a quiz on Tuesdays, a small upstairs room - and it has none of Soho's scale: the whole place holds about as many people as one floor of a bar on Old Compton Street.
