Four acres of lake, reedbed and marsh on the east side of the peninsula, opened to the public in 2002 on ground that had been industrial for a century. The Conservation Volunteers run it for the Land Trust, and you go in through the wooden gatehouse on the Thames Path between John Harrison Way and the yacht club. It is free and needs no booking. In winter it shuts at dusk rather than at five.
