The flue of the peninsula's energy centre had to be tall and it had to be somewhere, so Conrad Shawcross clad it instead of hiding it: forty-nine metres of folded, perforated aluminium that reads differently as you move past it. The pattern comes out of the dazzle camouflage painted on ships in the First World War, by way of Cubism and Op Art, and the moire effect it makes is the point. Finished in 2016.
