T. H. Nowell Parr's best pub, of 1909, with all four of its rooms and a Thai kitchen in the one at the back.
Historic interior
Built in 1909 by T. H. Nowell Parr for the Royal Brewery of Brentford, and generally reckoned the best of his pubs. The Graphic wrote it up in April 1909 as the turn between the compartmented pub of the 1890s and the open-plan neo-Georgian and Tudor pubs that came after, which is exactly what it is. Outside it is Domestic Revival, with green tile piers, Tuscan-columned porches and stained glass in the upper lights.
The interior is complete and in four rooms: a public bar to the right of a large saloon, which opens into the restaurant at the rear. Beamed ceilings, panelled dados, neo-Georgian fireplaces, a mahogany counter and fittings with pilasters framing the mirrors, Tudor-arched doors, pedimented screens to the saloon, panelled bar partitions, and wall benches on turned balusters. It was redecorated early in 2024, in keeping.
The room at the back is a Thai restaurant run by somebody else, open every day. On cask there is a Fuller's seasonal and a guest.
