Guided Tours

Guided tours worth booking: walks led by people who know the streets, and the bus, river and cycling tours that earn their fare. Each is drawn on the map as the ground it covers, from where it meets.

Charles Dickens's London

The lost city Dickens wrote, walked in the order the novels put it.

Every Friday, 14:30Walking

Dickens walked twelve miles a night through London and put nearly all of it into the books, which makes his city a real place with an index. The walk goes to Pip's lodgings, the bank, the inns and the courts, and to the streets that have gone - the point being how much of the London he described survives, and how thoroughly the rest was swept away within a generation of his death.
