Guided tours worth booking: walks led by people who know the streets, and the bus, river and cycling tours that earn their fare. Each is drawn on the map as the ground it covers, from where it meets.
Bloomsbury's squares, and the writers who worked in the houses round them.
Every Tuesday, 14:00Walking
Bloomsbury was built after the Great Fire as speculative housing and became, two centuries later, where a good deal of English literature was written - partly because the squares were quiet and partly because the rents were low. The walk goes between them and is as interested in the publishers and the British Museum reading room as in the novelists.
