Lesley Ackland and Martin Witts reopened it in August 2008 with twelve weeks of Joan Rivers, and it has been one of the country's principal comedy houses since: Bill Bailey, Micky Flanagan, Frankie Boyle, Jo Brand, Bridget Christie, and Stewart Lee for a season most years. Richard Herring named his podcast after the building.
It is not only comedy - cabaret, dance, music and plays go on too, and Stick Man comes back for the children every Christmas. Two bars sit in the auditorium itself and a smaller one is downstairs.
