A basement on Dean Street that has booked jazz nightly for half a century, under a branch of PizzaExpress.
JazzFood/meal available
At Pizza Express Live Dean Street.
Peter Boizot loved pizza and jazz, bought the Dean Street building, and found it had a basement big enough for a stage. It turned into one of the better small jazz rooms in Europe - Norah Jones, Jamie Cullum and Amy Winehouse have all played it. Doors at 18:30 and the music at 20:00, most nights of the week, and tickets are usually £20 to £35. You do not have to eat, but the pizza is the reason the room exists.
There are sister rooms in Holborn and Chelsea and a free piano lounge at Leicester Square; check which one a show is in before setting off, because the listings run them together.
