Bizet's Carmen at Covent Garden, in Damiano Michieletto's staging, sung in French.
Opera
Bizet's opera about a woman who lives and loves entirely on her own terms, and the soldier whose obsession with her ruins them both. Damiano Michieletto directs, with Ginger Costa-Jackson and Ramona Zaharia alternating in the title role, Russell Thomas and Valentyn Dytiuk as Don José, and Sesto Quatrini conducting.
Sung in French with English surtitles - a running translation on screens above the stage and around the auditorium - and a little over three hours with one twenty-five-minute interval.
