Opera

At Royal Opera House.

Mozart's opera to a libretto by Lorenzo da Ponte, about a nobleman who lives for his own pleasure and takes what he wants, until everything he has outrun arrives at once. Kasper Holten's staging for The Royal Opera returns with Gordon Bintner in the title role, alongside Rachel Willis-Sørensen, Aigul Akhmetshina, Roberto Tagliavini and Bogdan Volkov, and Stefano Montanari conducting.

Sung in Italian with English surtitles - a running translation on screens above the stage and around the auditorium - and three and a half hours long, in two acts of about ninety minutes each either side of a half-hour interval.
