Ashaine White puts jazz harmony and soul singing over alternative rock, deliberately against the grain of what audiences expect Black music to be. ENVIE, an East London trio who were Dystopia until recently, play dark psychedelic alt-rock and are explicit about reclaiming a genre that has had few women of colour in it. Yuneki opens with soulful indie-pop and was on BBC Introducing's Ones To Watch for 2026.
