Rapunzel rebuilt out of Caribbean folk tale, with a wish-granting callaloo plant at the centre of it.
Books & writersFamily friendlyAges 4–8
At Unicorn Theatre.
Trish Cooke has adapted her own 2024 picture book and Robin Belfield directs. A greedy man steals a plant that grants wishes - callaloo, the leaf greens of Caribbean cooking - and takes a daughter along with it, and she gets herself out by wit rather than rescue. The bones are Rapunzel's; everything built on them comes from somewhere else. Fifty minutes in the Weston.
