Chisenhale Gallery

The Bow gallery where careers begin: one commission at a time in a former veneer factory on the canal.

Public gallery

Also in Museums.

Chisenhale commissions rather than borrows: each show is a new work made for its single, high room, and the list of artists who made their first major London piece here - Rachel Whiteread's Ghost, Cornelia Parker's exploded shed, Lynette Yiadom-Boakye, Helen Marten, Camille Henrot - is a history of British art since 1990. The factory on Chisenhale Road also holds dance studios and artists' studios, and the Hertford Union Canal runs behind it.
