Wyndham Place

A short Georgian street closed at the end by a church with a round portico.

Terraces

St Mary's closing the view from Wyndham Place.

One of the best pieces of street-making on the Portman estate: a brief run of brick terraces aimed straight at St Mary's Bryanston Square, so the church's circular colonnade and tower stand in the middle of the view from either end. Robert Smirke built it in the 1820s, a few years before the British Museum, and the street exists mainly to be its approach.
