Nathalie Baye started as a dancer, was cast by Truffaut as a script girl in Day for Night, and spent the next thirty years being the most interesting person in other people's films. The season takes four of them. Truffaut's The Green Room (1978) has him starring as a journalist who builds a chapel to his dead wife and Baye as the secretary who befriends him; she remembered the shoot for how much they laughed, which the film does not. Godard's Sauve qui peut (la vie) (1980) put her on a bicycle and froze her mid-pedal, and was his return to cinema after a decade away. Godard again in Détective (1985), a hotel full of private investigators, boxers and gangsters with Johnny Hallyday and Jean-Pierre Léaud. And Chabrol's The Flower of Evil (2003), where she runs for mayor while anonymous leaflets accuse her family of collaborating.
At Ciné Lumière in the Institut français, subtitled in English. Each film runs for several days rather than one night.
