Desserts & Gelato

The sweet course as a destination: gelato and ice cream, cakes and patisserie, chocolate, and the dessert bars where pudding is the whole point. Bread and the morning are next door, in Bakeries.

Oddono's Gelati

The gelateria that started the good ones, still making it in a laboratory behind the shop.

Gelato & ice creamOpen late

Christian Oddono opened on Bute Street in July 2004, on the argument that London had no good gelato and that his grandmother's was the standard. It is still made from scratch on the premises every day, ingredient by ingredient: vanilla pods from Madagascar, pistachios from Sicily, hazelnuts from Piedmont, and nothing coloured or preserved.

Over a hundred and thirty flavours have been through the case, some of them odd - basil, cognac, chocolate and chilli - but the ones people come back for are chocolate, nocciola, bacio and pistachio. Sorbets are fruit, sugar and water, and there is a dairy-free soya gelato.
