Black History Studies at the Lexi

Films on Black history and culture, each one followed by a discussion the audience is expected to join in.

Talk

In The Lexi Cinema.

Charmaine Simpson founded Black History Studies to teach the parts of the history that school leaves out, and this has been running with the Lexi for years: a film, then a proper conversation about it rather than a polite question or two. Past screenings have taken in The Amazing Nina Simone, Angela Davis: Portrait of a Revolutionary, Nanny of the Maroons and Resurrecting Black Wall Street.

The nights sell out, so booking well ahead is the advice the cinema itself gives. Anyone can come.
