Algerian Coffee Stores

A Soho coffee shop of 1887 that never modernised, selling beans by weight from tins behind the counter.

Also in Coffee.

It opened in 1887 and has been on the same Old Compton Street site since, with the original shopfront, the tins ranged behind the counter and the smell that arrives before you reach the door. It sells more than eighty coffees and a hundred teas by weight.

There is an espresso machine at the counter selling some of the cheapest good coffee in central London, to take away only - there is nowhere to sit and never has been.
